Robots Of 'The Black Hole' Dr Reinhart's spaceship Cygnus, which is where most of the action takes place in The Black Hole, is full of 'robots'... However, most of these are not strictly robots in the sense that I'm using the term on this site, as they are (or were) humans, who Reinhart has effectively 'lobotomized'. The film does, though, feature a number of 'true' robots, the major ones of which are described below. |
|
Vincent is the "aaaah, isn't he cute!" and "gosh, isn't he funny?" robot of the film, and spends most of his time floating around aimlessly with no visible means of support (though you and I know it's fishing line or piano wire).
The high points of his involvement in the film are (1) a comic shooting match with another robot, Captain S.T.A.R., and (2) meeting up with Old Bob (see right). |
Old Bob is meant to be the 'sage' of the film, but he doesn't really crack it. Given that he's voiced by Slim Pickens, and his dialogue seems to come straight out of Blazing Saddles, he comes across more as a country (and western) bumpkin.

His single 'eye' glows a demonic red... and it fairly blazes when he is angry: a sign that you ought to be somewhere - anywhere - else. |
