A girl wakes up to find the small town in which she lives menaced by robots, and watches in horror as most of the population are killed by the robots, which shoot death rays from their heads. The survivors get together and eventually use ultrasonic waves to destroy the robots' "cathode ray tubes" and defeat them.

From a future world in which the computers have taken over and killed most of mankind, a T-800 Terminator android is sent from the future back to the present. Its mission is to track down and kill the woman (Sarah Connor) who will - in the future - give birth to John Connor, the leader of the human rebels who are fighting back against the machines. The human rebels send a volunteer back in time to protect the woman.

Their first attempt to prevent John Connor from being born having failed (in Terminator) having failed, a T-1000 Terminator is sent back in time to kill John, now a boy. The human rebels send back a reprogrammed T-800 Terminator to protect the boy, and to ensure that Skynet - the embryonic form of the machines which have taken over the future world - never comes into existence.

Scientists in a remote radio telescope observatory receive a message signal from outer space. When they answer the message, they are kidnapped and taken to a satellite 'manned' only by robots.

Pirx is sent on a spaceship mission with a humand and robot crew. The robots' manufacturers claim that they are 'perfect' and superior to any human and, to prove it, have programmed the ship's computer so that any command errors made by humans are 'escalated' to such an extent that they can only be rectified by a robot. Pirx, however, manages to cause his second in command, a robot, to carry out an action so foolhardy that it causes its own destruction.

Thrown into the dungeons by the evil Grand Vizier Jaffar, Prince Achmed - the rightful heir to the throne - meets Apu (the Thief of the title). Apu helps the Prince to escape and, while they are trying to help him regain his throne, have a number of adventures, one of which involves a mechanical flying horse.

In a future underground city, THX 1138 is a man who, after having had an illegal affair (love is against the law), yearns to break out and find the outside world. The film features robot policemen. (In one scene, a malfunctioning robot policeman continually walks into a wall.)

Following a nuclear war, the survivors live underground and are protected from the marauding mutants on the surface by an army of androids. The survivors are joined by scientists from 1964 who accidentally created a 'time portal' and are now trapped in their own future.

An inventor creates a robot - Tobor - which can receive telepathic messages, and which forms a close bond with his grandson. Communist spies capture the boy and the inventor, but the boy uses a secret transmitter to summon Tobor, who promptly comes to the rescue. The inventor, eventually deciding that Tobot cannot be controlled safely, launches him in a rocket into outer space.
