Sammy's Automaton (1914)

Sammy acquires a dummy and fits it with a mechanism which turns it into a 'burlesque Frankenstein monster', which then gets out of control. Sammy eventually destroys his creation by dousing it with petrol and setting light to it.

Nathaniel, haunted by the mythical Sandman, finds himself distracted by the beautiful Olympia who he sees through his window. After meeting her at a party and dancing with her, he starts to woo her, only to discover that she's an automaton made of wood and powered by clockwork. The Earth is a wasteland and what's left of mankind lives in domed cities on the Moon, relying on supplies of Q2, an anti-radiation drug, from planet Delta Three for their continued survival. Mad scientist Omus has taken over Delta Three and plans to take over the Moon by using robot-controlled spaceships to ram the human cities. Dr. John Caball, his son, and his son's friend - together with Sparks the cheerful robot - set off in their space cruiser to defeat Omus.

After hearing a broadcast of Orson Welles' 'War of the Worlds', Martians decide to visit Earth in order to join in the (non-existent) invasion. Unfortunately, they crash land and start wandering about, but - as it's Halloween - are ignored by the locals who think they're just children in costume. After overcoming their Enforcer Drone - a robot intended to weed out any 'weak links' in the command structure of their ship - the Martians repair their ship and return home.
